Brunch @ Issho

If you venture up to the 3rd floor of Victoria Gate in Leeds you'll find Issho, a stunning rooftop Japanese bar and restaurant. The menu offers an array of dishes, from serving plates to steak to their bubbles and baos brunch, with the latter being the reason we visited Issho this Sunday afternoon.

Brunch at Issho is served from 11am-5pm on Sundays, and 11am-3pm on Saturdays, and, true to its name of 'bubbles and baos', it consists of bottomless prosecco and a choice of either duck or beef bao buns. The prosecco itself will set you back £15, providing you with 2 hours of bottomless prosecco, and it's likely that you will never see the bottom of your glass as they keep it very well topped up (and as I am writing I am still very much feeling the effect of this). The bao buns come at an extra charge, and on Sunday the buns themselves are unlimited, though from what we gathered this unlimetedness does not include the duck or beef filling. Whilst this is definitely not within the student budget, as a treat it was incredible, and the service was absolutely outstanding. The servers were very attentive, knowing exactly when to come and fill your glass or ask if there was anything else you required.  In addition to brunch, we also opted for dessert (the Okinawa cinnamon doughnuts and Yamazaki caramac), and my oh my were these delicious! The doughnuts come with both a yuzu curd (very lemony) and a chocolate ganache, and I was advised to combine these flavours when dipping the doughnuts, which really was unlike anything I have ever tasted before.

Issho also provides a really great selection of cocktails and drinks as part of their Kori bar, and is the perfect setting for a girl's brunch or romantic outing. The terrace area is absolutely stunning, with some of the comfiest chairs I have ever sat on! The only thing missing is an amazing view, which sadly isn't really achievable in Leeds city centre.

If you're looking to treat yourself whilst you're in Leeds, head on over to Issho. Yes, it is on the more pricey side but personally I think it's worth it, and for 3 hours I completely forgot that I am a struggling student.
